Nashville Landmark Series - classic buildings in Nashville, TN
I spent some time in Greece and Crete, studying the ancient religions. I learned that people used nature in everything they did, including honoring their gods and goddesses. Athena was the goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts and literature. I "reasoned" that she loved the beauty of nature and would have liked her subjects to honor nature in conjunction with honoring her. That is why I have painted in the greenery with Athena's temple in this piece.
